This is one of my all-time favorite books! (by one of my all-time favorite authors too!

What It’s About:
This is a powerfully woven tale of courage in WWI through the eyes of 5 teenagers, all from different countries. Their home countries are all at war, and the young adults are all victims of the First World War’s terror. Yet they endure, with inspiring courage, stepping up all in their own ways to serve those around them, bring joy in sorrow, heal the hurting, and most of all be friends when friends are needed most. Through an antique war medal and a kind general, all 5 teenagers take a journey unlike any other that eventually leads them all to each other.

Things To Be Aware Of:
This is a war book. And war is awful, and full of injuries and death. But Nielsen handles all of these injuries and death in a way that is not gory, over descriptive, or alarming. However, be aware if you are one who cannot stand any talk of blood, broken limbs, cuts, or other war wounds like that, for they do make an appearance.
My Review:
This is such an amazing & masterfully written book. Jennifer Nielsen is one of my favorite authors, and when you read it, you will see why!! I love this book so much and am encouraged and inspired to have courage, every time I read it! Not only that, but the eloquent writing pulls you in the story from chapter one! The characters and descriptions are so compelling, and I can attest that while reading this book, you transport to war-stricken Europe & experience these trials, challenges, joys, & sorrows right along with them!
