The Get To Know Ya Book Tag

If you hang around the blog-isphere for any amount of time, you’ll see people doing what’s called “book tags”! Simply put, it’s a list of questions, you assign a book to, and then “tag” a few fellow bloggers, and they can do it, if they choose to! (basically a giant game of “your favorite books in “X” category” tag! πŸ˜†)

I’ve never participated in a tag but I’m changing that today! I got this tag from Pearl Christine who got it from Liesl over on Quote, Unquote! I’m excited to do this so let’s dive in!

~ your favorite book of all time ~

Wow… starting out with a tough one, eh? I think I have to say….

The Green Ember Series by S.D. Smith

This one just never gets old for me! It’s like a comfort series, I know I can always count on for a riveting, heart-warming, and even tear-jerking (GE fans will know what I mean πŸ˜‰) read.

~ your favorite book five years ago ~

(totally is doing the math how old I was five years ago…🫣) This one is hard. I don’t remember specifically what my favorite was back then, but I’m pretty sure I was loving this book…

Next Best Junior Chef by Charise Mericle Harper

I ate up this series, and then read it aloud to my sister they were so fun!! So different than most books which was so refreshing!!

~ your favorite duology/trilogy/series ~

Gotta be…

Ascendance Series by Jennifer Nielsen

I know the last two are controversial but I love them! I think the first three are the best but I also love that Nielsen chose to keep the stories going!!

~ the last book you read ~

Dust by Kara Swanson

Though technically, I listened to it since that’s the only way I could find a copy! But still… that counts! πŸ˜‰ I love a good re-telling and Kara did NOT disappoint!! Her Peter Pan retelling was golden!

~ the last book of poetry you read ~

Oo… I can honestly say, I don’t think I’ve ever read a book of poetry. I’ve read lots of poems, and love writing poems but never in a complication like a book before! Perhaps I should change that this year! πŸ˜‰

~ a book that most influenced your life ~

(Does the Bible count? πŸ˜†)
Aside from the Bible, I think I would have to say….

Do Hard Things by Brett & Alex Harris

This book is SO needed for our generation! I still think about this premise all the time.

~ a book that made you cry ~

Confession… I don’t cry over books very often… BUT the last book I remember balling over was…

Iceberg by Jennifer Nielsen

Fun story: I’d been a big fan of Nielsen’s historical fictions and knew she was coming out with another one but totally forgot about it! And then I was on vacation, perusing my favorite bookstore in the town we were in, and there it was, glowing, and levitating off the shelf…. okay not really, but it felt like that! I of course bought it and then when I got back to our rental I discovered that it had come out just the day prior!! It was hot off the presses! And I read it over the next two/three days, and totally lost it at the end….

~ a book that made you laugh ~

Oh I know!

The Vanderbeekers Of 141st Street by Karina Yan Glaser

I just finished reading this book a little while ago, and it was so funny!! I was cackling reading it! Also SO sweet!! I’m excited to read the rest in the series!!

~ a character you’d like to be for a day ~

Oooo hands down Jo March…

I relate to Jo a lot… I mean extroverted, book nerd, sister, adventurous, and writer…. ta-da BELLA! πŸ˜‚ I definitely wouldn’t mind writing in the attic, joking around with Amy, Beth, and Meg, or romping outside with Laurie!

~ a book you dnf’d ~

Okay… don’t come after me, because I know this book is super popular but…

The Giver by Lois Lowry

I read some of Lowry’s other books and loved them but The Giver didn’t cut it for me, for a few reasons, so did not finish reading this.

~ a book you are excited to read ~

Ooo there’s so many!! πŸ˜‚ But I think…

The Fugitive Of Talionis by C.J. Milacci

I’m a new fan of C.J. Milacci’s work and after listening to the first book in her series (Recruit of Talionis) I am itching to get my hands on the sequel! (In fact, I’ve ordered it and I’m pretty sure I’m going to get it tomorrow and I can’t wait to dive into it!)

Okay one more because I couldn’t help it… I’m also really excited for…

Mooses With Bazookas by S.D. Smith

Like I said, I’m a huge S.D. Smith fan so I’m super excited to read this book he’s just released!! This one is also ordered and should be arriving soon!

Now For The Tags…

Tag, you’re it…

M.L. Milligan

And YOU!! If you’re reading this, and you want to take a stab at this tag- have at it!! Send me a link if you do- I’d love to read it!

One More Thing….

I made a fun video re-cap of all the books I read in 2023 and thought it would be the perfect time to share it here!

Well that’s all for today, friends!

What did you think of this book tag? Would you like to see more of them? Have you read any of these jewels? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Happy New Year, friends!

Until next time,

  1. This is so fun! I haven’t read a lot of the books you added, but I am a big GE fan too!!! I also read Mooses with Bazookas, and loved it!! I also (of course) read Little Women, and I think I’ve read the vanderbeekers, but I don’t know for sure (: Do Hard Things is on my brother’s shelf and he just said I could read it. I’m super excited about that because I’ve heard so many good things about it!

  2. Oooh, I recognize a lot of books! I got Green Ember for my birthday, can’t wait to read it! I’ve read part of it before, but didn’t get to finish it. I read the False Prince but couldn’t really get into the rest of the series. Iceberg is really good! And the Vanderbeekers of 141st Street is such an AMAZING book! The series is so sad, and happy, and all the different emotions you could possibly experience all at once! Oooh, Little Women is a definite fav for me. Not my absolute favorite, but so cozy and sweet! The Giver wasn’t the best book I’ve ever read, and it was a very interesting and thought-provoking, and the ending was less than satisfactory. I know this is a super long comment (: (;

    1. It’s okay! I love the long comment!! Oo sounds like you’ve been reading all the good ones!! You should try and read the rest of the Ascendance series! It’s one of my faves! (which is why it’s here, haha! πŸ˜‰ And yesss you MUST read Green Ember!! Once you do, email me and we can fan about it together!!! I love that series!! <3
      Thanks for reading/commenting, Roxy!!

  3. Hey Bella,
I like this blog tag idea and would love to see more in the future. I have read and enjoyed the Green Ember series but am not sure I’ve read any of these other titles. I will have to take you up on this challenge and use that as my impetus to get back into blogging. I’ll be sure to post if I do. I need to update my 3.6 loyal readers about some things anyway.

  4. Ahh, I love this post and this tag and am SO happy that you had me next! I saw that you read ‘Adorning The Dark’, what did you think of it? ATD is one of my all-time favorites.

    1. Thank you so much Molly!! Hehehe, hope you don’t mind!! πŸ˜‰ Ahh yes ATD was GOLDEN!! I loved it so much!! I got God Of The Garden for Christmas and can’t wait to read it- have you read it?
      Thanks for commenting! <3
