Come chronicles the story of the disciples Matthew and Peter as they follow Jesus who is performing miracles right before their eyes. Yet Peter’s greatest test will be his response to the Lord saying “Come”.

Q+A With Me 2.0!

Hello friends!!

Last week, I had the FUNNEST (hehe, that’s not a word but it’s alright 😜) time writing a Q+A post, answering all the questions my lovely email subscribers have been sending it! I got so many awesome questions that I had to break this into two posts! So here is the sequel! πŸ˜‰

~ writing ~

Shiloh asks…”What’s your dream published work, like genre, themes etc?”

My answer: “Oo this is a great question! I’m not sure I have an answer! Hmm…I think my dream published work would be my current WIP (work-in-progress) that we can call Project: Loved (that’s not the real title πŸ˜‰), about Emrie, a hurting orphan girl struggling with her past! This story was really one that the Lord gave me and I deeply believe if for someone out there and I pray it will impact them. So to have this story out in the world someday after having gone on such a journey with the Lord writing it, will be a dream come true! πŸ₯°

Grace asks…“You’re trying to get your MG book traditionally published right now, right? What does publication mean to you? (not a trick question!!)”

My answer: “Okay so for me publication means getting an agent, pitching to publishing houses, having a house pick up my book, and publish it for anyone to read! I am working towards publication with this novel and know at some point I’ll publish it, but right now I’m focusing on growing in my craft, and building my platform, before I begin to actively search out agents!”

Kennedy asks…“Do you outline? If so how do you do it?”

My answer: “Outlining and I have a tough history together. πŸ˜† When I was younger and I would need to outline for school it was soooo hard! But now that I’ve grown in my writing I’ve experimented with a few different outline methods. I consider myself a panster (someone who “flies by the seat of their pants” when writing) and do my best writing when I have no idea what I’m writing… 😜 But all stories need structure and an outline of some variety! So I’ve explore other not as restrictive methods of outlining! In the fall, I tried outlining a novel chapter-by-chapter, and wrote it earlier this winter. The novel that was supposed to be 50k ended up being only 20k. So that form of outlining didn’t work well for me! For the novel I’m currently writing, I started to just pants it (it’s a prequel to my other WIP so I had a small idea of the basis story/timeline) but after three chapters I realized I needed to do some story structure. So I then I plotted each of the story structure points (I’m using K.M. Weiland’s Three Act Story Structure). So I’m still pantsing but with some idea of where I’m headed at each point in the story! 😊

Anna asks…“What is your favorite book genre to read and write about?”

My answer: “I think either historical fiction or medieval fantasy! A few months ago I would’ve said historical fiction, as I *love* reading that, and have written a good bit of it! But recently I realized that my WIP (Project: Loved) is in fact medieval fantasy, and so is my novella series I wrote, my novelette, and a few of my short stories! And I love love reading medieval fantasy also! So my answer to this would be medieval fantasy!”

~ blogging ~

Chloe asks…“Do you have a least favorite blog post??”

My answer: “Oh gosh umm….. Okay I totally went back to look at all my blog posts and no, I don’t think so! I think I love each of the posts I did for various reasons! I think two of my “blogging horror stories” though would be once I wrote up a whole post and then the day I was supposed to post it something fell through and I couldn’t end up posting it. 😢 Sooo I had to swap gears really quickly and write an entire post in one day! And then one time (very recently actually) I was going through and deleting some pictures that were stored on my site, and then I realized it was deleting them on my actual site so I had to go back and re-find all the pictures I deleted and restore them. That was scary! 🫣

Jessica asks… “How do you recommend going about figuring out what topics to blog about?”

My answer: “I honestly don’t think I have a one-size-fits-all answer for you. For me since I have three niches I blog about (writing, books, and artsy stuff) I usually always have a few different ideas to pick from. I’ve made and kept a list of blog post ideas that whenever I’m stuck I can refer back to! Since I have three topics, I try to alternate it, so I’m doing like three book posts and then three writing posts. I try to spread out the love so it’s all even at least to some degree! πŸ˜‰

Kennedy asks…“How do you keep your readers interested in your email list?”

My answer: “For my email list, I just have kind of figured it out as I went along and then realized how much people enjoy them which I’m so thrilled by! πŸ˜ƒ I think my tips would be to talk like yourself, yet be professional. Don’t try to sound like a college professor in your email list if that’s not who you are. I’m a super bubbly, talkative person in real life who loves exclamation points and emojis! (I bet you couldn’t have guessed that πŸ€ͺ) So in my email lists, I talk like we’re sitting down with coffee together!! Now I would NOT suggest to send an email that looks like this…

‘hey guys, not sure what to talk about. life’s been busy lol. iykyk. here’s a blog post. hope u like it and it’s not 2 boring XD ok gtg’

Okay I know that’s kind of a silly example, but what I’m trying to say is be professional, have good spelling/punctuation/grammar, but also be yourself!

Some other tips would be to break up long paragraphs. If I click into an email and it’s just solid black and white, it doesn’t matter how much I want to read their email, I’m clicking out! πŸ˜‚ Break it up, and for me as a super aesthetic person who cares about artsy/visual beauty, I want the emails to look nice! There are lots of people who say graphics/aesthetics clutter up an email and are unnecessary but for me they make an email so much more enjoyable!

~ random ~

Shiloh asks… “What’s your favorite movie?”

My answer: “Ack that’s so hard!! I love watching movies with my family and I think some of my favorites would have to be… Sgt Bilko (my mom grew up with this one and Steve Martin is just πŸ‘ŒπŸ»), Encanto (love the songs in this one), Frozen I & II (Olaf.. what else needs to be said?), Mom’s Night Out (a new favorite!), and Alexander And The Terrible Horrible No-Good Very Bad Day! (Steve Carell is awesome, and this movie always makes my whole family roll on the floor laughing! πŸ˜‚)”

Edan asks… Why do you live in TN? Would you rather live in Hawaii? Or live somewhere in Europe?”

My answer: Okay so I originally answered this question, and then when my mom was reading it, she fact-checked me and we then spent the next hour researching our genealogy. So… I am a 6th generation native to the Middle TN area through TWO lines!! My ancestors actually settled a city in Southern Middle TN, in the early 1800’s! So.. I live in TN because that is where I (and almost all my family) was born and raised. I wouldn’t dream of leaving; I love it here! And as for the second question, without a doubt Europe! The amount of history over there, and the overall aesthetic/scenery! 🀩 I haven’t been yet but we’re going in a few years for a special celebration and I couldn’t be more excited!!

Maya asks… “What’s the most recent book you finished reading?”

My answer: Lore by Chuck Black! I’m in the middle of binging that series and am obsessed! It’s phenomenal!! Though I have been listening to the audiobook so as for books I actually read… it would be Hunted by Meagan Spooner. (3.5/5 Stars)

Amelia asks… “What’s your favorite color to wear?

My answer: Hmm… I think any shade of blue! And then dark green/turquoise/teal colors! And I really like grey as well!

Shiloh asks… “Iced coffee or hot?”

My answer: Apparently iced! πŸ˜† I’ve not been a huge coffee person (I love making it and I’ll try my parents drinks but I’ve never really liked it my ownself) but last week I just got into a mood, and poured myself a glass of my dad’s cold brew and drank the whole thing so… Not sure what happened there! 😜

Amelia asks…“Do you have any pets?” and Reece asks… “What’s your favorite pet you have?”

My answer: Yes! I have twelve chickens, four goats (Andy, Barney, Helen, and Thelma-Lou, shoutout if you know what those names are from 🀩), one yellow lab puppy (Riley), and two cats (Nala, and Trevor)! My favorite pet would easily be Trevor… he is actually one of Nala’s kittens that we decided to keep because he is the most snugly, most affectionate, sweetest kitty you’ve ever seen. I adore him!! 😍

Elizabeth asks…What’s the weirdest animal you’ve ever seen?”

My answer: Ha! Well there is a Safari Park in TN that we have gone to and I gotta say I saw some pretty wackodoodle animals there! Not sure specifically what animals was the weirdest but yeah there were some pretty crazy ones! πŸ˜‰

Amelia asks…Where would you like to travel to one day?”

My answer: Europppeeee!! Hands-down, that is my dream vacation! Specifically England, France, and Italy! 🀩

Edan asks… “Favorite band?”

My answer: Elevation Worship, or For King & Country!! My family attends Elevation Church online, and I’ve gotten to meet one half of FK&C, and both write INCREDIBLE music!!

Phew we made it!! Those were some AWESOME questions guys, both last week and this week! These were some of my most favorite blog posts to write- thank YOU for sending in such awesome questions!!

Was your question answered? What did you think of my answers? What’s the weirdest animal YOU’VE seen?? Have you ever gotten a mood for iced cold brew? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Until next time,

  3. Ahh, I’ve loved reading through this and the last Q+A so much! I had no idea that you had four goats, but that must be so fun (my family has a decent sum of pets, but for outdoor animals, it’s currently just chickens).
